Thanksgiving Week Lessons
During this short, 2-day school week, students will have the opportunity to explore the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Students in grades K-3 will read the book Balloons Over Broadway, a biography of the life of Tony Sarg, the inventor of the balloons that are featured in the parade. They will also watch a short video clip that shows the design process for the balloons now.
Students will have the chance to participate in a variety of centers related to the book:

- Read about Matter in PebbleGo. What properties of materials are used in make the balloons? How are solids, liquids, and gases involved?
- Use TuxPaint or Sketchup to design your own parade balloon.
- Use ABCya Animate to create an animated parade of your own.

National Geographic Kids Animals This website has an alphabetical list of animals and facts about each one. San Diego Zoo Animals GREAT website that has information about animals at the zoo and how they are specialized to live in their habitats. A to Z Animals This website from the United Kingdom contains information about hundreds of animals. EVALUATE:
